Here is the new rule in colour theory for 2011: clash it. Unconventional combinations of bright hues are on point for fall, not to mention, it’s a refreshing contrast in a sea of black. Think red and pink, orange and yellow, and blue and purple for a look that packs some serious punch. Not quite ready to go head-to-toe in technicolour? Try mismatching your brights with your bag and shoes.

Christie French Connection

Front of dress

Get on board the futuristic trend this fall with a Star Trek inspired French Connection dress, brand new at Aritzia. I love the strong shoulders, flattering cut, gold zipper detailing and the colour—red is the shade of the season. The shoulders are even roomy enough to add the pads I picked up at Dressew last week. Also available in charcoal. $128.
