How to spot me on the beach this summer? I will be rocking some serious earrings in an obnoxious size and loud colour. There is something about sunlight that makes us want to trade in those delicate jewels for the bold, bright and beautiful. Luckily, this season is all about big, colourful accessories to pump up your summer ensemble. The tribal trend is on point right now, so look out for statement pieces with unique shapes, bold textures and pops of colour. These babies are on my shopping list:

1, 2. One of my favourite summer looks is a simple updo with killer earrings. Do a modern take with bold geometric shapes. House of Harlow Gold Tribal Earrings ($57), at The Trend Boutique and Melody Ehsani Aztec Masai Earrings ($126), at Karmaloop.

3,4. Be the talk of the town with a statement necklace. Just be sure to pull out all the stops with some bright colour. Melody Ehsani Aztec Masai Necklace ($104), at Karmaloop and Kenneth Jay Lane Necklace ($80), at Net-A-Porter.

5, 6. Experiment with textures if you are rocking a tribal-inspired bracelet. Coloured stones and vintage finishes add a classic and unique touch. House of Harlow Tribal Cuff ($220), at Revolve Clothing and Aldo Bracelet ($15).

Trust me when I say that I am just as unhappy as you are covering up a super cute outfit with a bulky parka and thick scarf. With all the effort you put into looking great, don’t let something like winter get in the way of your inner style maven. You may not be able to avoid the parka for the time being, but you sure can accessorize everything else with statement jewellery to show Mother Nature who’s boss.

1. Pamela Love Tribal Spike Sterling Silver Cuff, $645, available at Net-a-Porter
2. House of Harlow Feather Ring Locket, $90, available at Revolve Clothing
3. Alex Monroe Large Leaf Earrings, $283, available at Far Fetch
4. Marmen Spider Pin, $354.16, available at Luisaviaroma

Within minutes of entering Gastown’s newest boutique Holly (215-322 Water St. Vancouver, 604-681-8883, shopholly.ca), it became apparent that I’d stumbled upon a little piece of heaven. With high aqua blue ceilings and white walls flooded with natural light, the boutique’s bright, spacious design alone had me on cloud nine. Owner Holly Wong stocks the store with an abundance of fresh, fun clothing and accessories meant for “the modern women who wants to look on trend yet professional during the day, and be able to transition effortlessly into evening.” Wong works with her co-buyer Loretta Oreskovich to ensure a refreshing mix of her own feminine style with her partner’s more edgy aesthetic. With romantic silk floral dresses and flirty beaded camisoles from Parker, bright architectural pieces with attitude from Mason and a nice variety of price points, there really is something for everyone. Summer brings a star-studded line-up: watch for jewellery from Nicole Richie’s label House of Harlow, and threads from Twenty8Twelve by Sienna Miller. My Favourite? The printed strapless mini by Heartfelt. The dress’s design is derived from original artwork by the label’s creator, artist Salvatore Prinicipe, who dubs his clothes “mobile canvases”—who can resist wearing a little piece of art? Not I. With a shopping utopia like Holly, I think heaven may be on Earth after all.
