The latest look in refined elegance is pure tux luxe. As seen on the runways of Jason Wu, Ralph Lauren and Moschino, tuxedo inspired womenswear is a prominent trend for the fall/winter season. The traditionally male tuxedo has been re-styled in must-have feminine silhouettes and stunningly unconventional designs, without sacrificing the classic black and white color blocking or the eternally chic, understated style content. To complete your tuxedo inspired look, select sleek accessories and black-tie swagger. The latest look in refined elegance is pure tux luxe. Chic and timeless, the trench coat has long-been the quintessential jacket for fall. This season, trench coat powerhouse Burberry graced the runway with unexpected takes on the traditional coat, proving that the Fall 2011 trench is all about the modern spin. To take the runway in to real life, opt for styles with unique tailoring or design features, classic cuts in trendy hues, or traditional silhouettes with standout prints.

In keeping with the seasonal tweaks we give to the rest of our makeup repertoire, summer is definitely the time to start mixing things up in terms of fragrance. Musky scents simply add to the weight of the heat – best to look to our list of refreshing summer scents instead!

Burberry-1

Burberry Summer

Crisp and green with a twist of mandarin, this scent easily holds up to the heat.

Pucci-1

Emilio Pucci Vivara Varianzioni Verde 072

Its name is certainly a mouthful, but the scent itself has a very clear message: clean and green.  A Turkish rose base rounds out the brighter element of mint in the scent.

Marc Jacobs-1

Marc Jacobs Cranberry Splash

Sometimes, less is more. Take one part cranberry and one part red currant, mix them together, and voilà: a perfectly understated and delicious scent.

CK-1

CK One Summer

The bottle may be a bit garish for some, but it’s what’s inside that counts.  For those of you who like fruity, this is the one for you: strong notes of tangerine are intermixed with hints of lemon and pear.

Spring break may be over, but it’s never too late to pack up your bags and go! Whether you are heading to far off places or simply fantasizing about your dream destination, travel can be a great source of fashion inspiration. Personally, I have always envisioned trekking the trendy streets of famous locales around the world. This week, London is calling! It may have been the recent loss of Alexander McQueen that has sparked a British invasion in my closet. Images of the Union Jack, Savile Row, Burberry, Vivienne Westwood and the effortlessly cool Kate Moss immediately come to mind. Not to mention, the British influence on my iPod (The Clash, The Beatles, The Who and Spice Girls, of course).

Top to bottom:

A Brit-inspired look: tailoring mixed with easy casuals to channel your inner Beatle (Image courtesy of Facehunter). Alexander McQueen skull-print silk and wool pashmina ($395 US), Alexander McQueen Union Jack ballerina flats ($490 US), Stella McCartney tailored wool-blend jacket ($1645 US), Burberry studded ring ($175 US), Twenty8Twelve tee (120 US), Vivienne Westwood Red Label high-waisted wool-blend pants ($425 US).
