Festive [fes-tiv]: an adjective pertaining to something suitable for a feast or merry making. What comes to mind? Sparkle. That’s right, it’s time to bring out your inner showgirl because the holidays are the perfect time to pull out all the stops. But be careful – not all that glitters is indeed gold. Little hits here and there are the easiest way to go, so have fun with it. If you’re going to wear sparkle you better be ready to smile. These accessories will amp up any old LBD or even jeans and a tee in the most high fashion, festivus way. Now go find some mistletoe.

Pay homage to the memory of iconic star Elizabeth Taylor by emulating her classic, glamorous fashion sense. Whether you’re dressed to the nines or relaxing poolside, think 1950s-inspired nipped-waist silhouettes that show off an hourglass shape, with ample décolletage as your best accessory. Add some drama to your makeup routine with bold liquid liner: a nod to her title role in the cinematic spectacle Cleopatra. Turn a bad hair day into a chance to channel Taylor’s 60s signature turban with a turban-inspired headband. If there’s one type of accessory Elizabeth Taylor was known for, it’s diamonds. Whether they’re real or faux, a girl’s got to sparkle.

Get ready to reveal a bit more than usual this Spring as your underwear becomes outerwear. The Spring 2010 runways were replete with romantic boudoir-inspired designs, and it wasn’t just steadfast lingerie lovers like Dolce & Gabbana and Jean Paul Gaultier who embraced the trend. Fashion heavyweights like Dior and Fendi also turned out plenty of delicate, barely-there threads, and the look has now gone mainstream, proving popular with fashionistas everywhere. The key to wearing this look? Less is more. Think pretty slip dresses with lingerie-inspired details like lace or corset boning, and bustier style tops layered under a blazer or cardigan. Choosing understated and feminine pieces will keep the trend looking classy, not trashy. Don’t play coy, take a cue from our picks and let your inner exhibitionist come out to play.
