Fall is just around the corner, so it’s time to start thinking about pieces to take us into the upcoming season. Incorporate autumn trends into your current wardrobe by mixing these pieces on cooler evenings or when the wind hits. Still stuck in vacation mode? Put these looks at the top of your fall shopping list.

2. Zara High Heeled Moccasin ($109).

A revamped version of the classic oxford shoe, these pumps will give you some added height. Try a bright boost of colour and interesting detailing for added flair. They’ll give you the Ivy League student appearance with a fashion forward twist.

4. Zara Metallic Trousers ($79.90).

Metallics were all over the Spring/Summer 2011 runway, but they seem to be transitioning into Fall. And why shouldn’t they? This trend gives your outfit a little bit of pizazz when the cold weather creeps up. Just pair it with a classic tee to avoid re-emerging the Disco Queen look.

The Slouchy Sweater

5. Style inspiration from The Sartorialist.

6. Simons Ribbon Knit Sweater ($29.95).

The great thing about this classic staple is that is can be paired with practically anything. Mix it up and wear it with a leather skirt, or keep it basic with a pair of skinny jeans. As opposed to a more fitted cut, this loose fitting pullover will not only keep you warm, but fabulously comfortable.

Rihanna was already rockin shoulder pads last May, now we’re seeing them all over this season’s runways including top designers Balmain (left) and Givenchy (right). What’s it going to take for you to start wearing the strong shoulder? I know. The fact that they’re only 49 cents per pair at Dressew (337 W. Hastings). I couldn’t believe it either, so I stocked up on various sizes and shapes to insert into my roomy blazers and cardys. I can just see it—skinnies, studded over-the-knee boots and a wicked set of pads. Get fierce ladies.
